Welcome to Minaret Media. By accessing or using our website, digital publications, newsletters, podcasts, social media channels or any other services operated by Minaret Media (“Services”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use our Services.

1. About Minaret Media

Minaret Media is a digital publication operated by the Lebanese Muslim Association (LMA) (“we”, “us”, “our”). We provide news, opinion, community stories, podcasts, video content and other editorial material for audiences across Australia.

2. Editorial Independence

Minaret Media is committed to producing accurate, responsible and independent journalism.

While Minaret Media is published by the Lebanese Muslim Association, editorial decisions are made independently by the Minaret Media editorial team in accordance with our Editorial Policy and journalistic standards.

Content such as sponsored material, advertising and official organisational announcements will be clearly identified where applicable.

3. Accuracy and General Disclaimer

We take reasonable care to ensure that information published by Minaret Media is accurate at the time of publication.

However, we do not guarantee that all content is complete, current or free from errors. Information may change over time, particularly in relation to events, public announcements or developing news stories.

Readers should independently verify information before relying upon it, particularly where legal, financial, medical or other professional matters are concerned.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Minaret Media and the Lebanese Muslim Association accept no liability for any loss arising from reliance on information published through our Services.

4. Reader Contributions and Editorial Submissions

We welcome submissions from members of the community, including articles, letters, opinion pieces, photographs, community notices and other editorial contributions.

By submitting content to Minaret Media, you confirm that:

• You are the creator of the material or have the necessary rights and permissions to submit it.
• The material does not infringe copyright, privacy or other legal rights of any person.
• The material is not defamatory, misleading or unlawful.
• Where identifiable individuals appear in submitted photographs, you have obtained any permissions reasonably required for publication.

You retain ownership of your original work unless otherwise agreed in writing.

By submitting content, you grant Minaret Media a perpetual, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to review, edit, publish, reproduce, archive and distribute your submission across our print publications, website, newsletters, podcasts, social media channels and other digital platforms.

Publication of submitted material remains entirely at the discretion of the Minaret Media editorial team. Submission does not guarantee publication.

We reserve the right to edit submissions for accuracy, clarity, grammar, legal compliance and consistency with our editorial style.

Opinions expressed by contributors are those of the individual author and do not necessarily reflect the views of Minaret Media or the Lebanese Muslim Association.

5. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, all articles, photographs, videos, graphics, logos, branding, designs, podcasts, newsletters and other content published by Minaret Media are protected by Australian copyright and intellectual property laws.

You may:

• Share links to our content.
• Quote limited excerpts with appropriate attribution.

You may not reproduce, republish, distribute, modify, sell or commercially exploit substantial portions of our content without our prior written permission.

6. Artificial Intelligence

Unless expressly authorised in writing, Minaret Media content may not be copied, reproduced or used for the purpose of training artificial intelligence, machine learning or similar automated systems.

7. Advertising and Sponsored Content

Advertising, sponsorships and other commercial partnerships are clearly identified where appropriate.

Acceptance of advertising does not imply endorsement by Minaret Media or the Lebanese Muslim Association.

We reserve the right to refuse advertising that is inconsistent with our editorial standards or community values, including advertising relating to alcohol, gambling, adult services, predatory lending or other unsuitable products or services.

Where applicable, advertising complies with relevant Australian advertising standards, including the AANA Code of Ethics.

8. Email Newsletter

Our newsletters are sent to subscribers who have chosen to receive LMA communications, as well as to members of the LMA community mailing list. Recipients may unsubscribe at any time. 

Every marketing email contains a functioning unsubscribe facility in accordance with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems.
• Interfere with the security or operation of our Services.
• Introduce viruses, malware or other harmful code.
• Scrape, harvest or copy our content at scale without permission.
• Harvest subscriber or contributor information.
• Impersonate another individual or organisation.

Nothing in these Terms excludes rights that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.

14. Suspension and Termination

We reserve the right to refuse submissions, remove content, suspend access to our Services or take other appropriate action where these Terms are breached or where necessary to protect the integrity of Minaret Media.

15. Governing Law

These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.

You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales in relation to any dispute arising under these Terms.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time.

The current version will always be published on our website together with the “Last updated” date. Continued use of our Services after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
