Building on the momentum of last year’s history-making inaugural event, the Lebanese Muslim Association and its charitable arm Feed The World once again brought the community together for the Australian Muslim Community Golf Day, held on Saturday 13 December at the picturesque Brighton Lakes Golf Course, Moorebank.
The spirit of unity, generosity and purpose was every bit as strong as at the inaugural event, with golfers and invited guests gathering after play for a relaxed function and presentation ceremony at the club.
The theme of the event was “Chipping in for Change”, focusing firmly on fellowship and fundraising, with all proceeds from the day directed to the LMA’s charity arm Feed The World, supporting vulnerable communities locally and overseas.
As with the inaugural tournament, players contested a 4-Ball Ambrose format, enjoying ideal conditions and the welcoming environment provided by Brighton Lakes.
The day was structured to accommodate the needs of Muslim participants, including time and space for prayer, reinforcing the inclusive and halal-friendly nature of the event.
Renowned Turkish-Australian comedian Tahir returned to the tournament, this time taking on the role of celebrity Master of Ceremonies for the post-golf function.
Bringing his trademark warmth and humour, Tahir kept the atmosphere light while guiding proceedings and supporting a small but effective fundraiser held during the function.
Tahir was joined by co-MC Dr Tarek Sari, who conducted the official presentation to the winners and their teamwork ensured a smooth conclusion to the day.
Congratulations were extended to all participants, with special acknowledgement reserved for the winning teams:
- First Place: George Helou, Souheil Nahloud, Mustapha Abutaa and Scott Murgatroyd.
- Second Place: Mike Bedir, Sam Hasna, Nagihan Ozdemir, Steve Goktas.
- Third Place: Bilal Sayed, Sharif Amin, Hytham Wawi, Nasser Nahlous.
Additional prizes for Nearest to Pin and Longest Drive, were also presented to winners Hytham Wawi, Brad Carr and Souheil Nahlous.
